Colorado smoking ban bill moves forward13 March 2007DENVER, Colorado – As reported by the Colorado Gazette: "Casino operators and workers opposed to a smoking ban in their businesses asked a Senate committee Monday if it was willing to give up $15 million a year in tax revenues to improve public health. "The bill sponsor and Democratic committee members answered with a resounding yes and moved HB1269 toward its decisive battle on the Senate floor. "…Casinos, as well as cigar bars and the Denver International Airport smoking lounge, were exempted when the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act passed last year. "Anti-smoking groups have cited health reasons in moving to close the loophole this year, and a number of legislators have said it isn't fair that customers can light up in gambling halls but not in bars.
