Colorado levies $111,200 in fines against 5 casinos11 October 2006DENVER, Colorada -- As reported by the Denver Channel: "For the first time since limited gambling was legalized in Colorado, the state has handed down fines totaling $111,200 against five mountain-town casinos for operating defective or illegal slot machines. "In one instance, a casino was using five slot machines that permitted gamblers to bet more than the $5 dollar state-mandated limit, the Colorado Gaming Division said. Four other casinos used machines with defective software. The fines were levied in August and September. "...Century Casino in Central City received the heaviest fine -- $87,500 -- after regulators found five slot machines that allowed bets of more than $5. "...Colorado Central Station in Black Hawk was fined $15,000 for 18 defective machines; Double Eagle casino, Cripple Creek, $4,500, 15 defective machines; the Riviera Black Hawk, $3,000, 10 defective machines; and the Isle of Capri Casino, Black Hawk $1,200, for four defective machines..." |
