Colorado Legislators Propose Lottery Laws11 February 2004COLORADO – As reported by the Denver Post: "State legislators on Tuesday said they would propose laws to prevent conflicts of interest at the Colorado Lottery. "The legislation comes on the heels of an ethics overhaul already underway at the Lottery and in the midst of a criminal probe into the timing of gifts given to top officials there by vendors doing business with the agency. "The legislation, in part, would bar Lottery officials from taking jobs with agency vendors for two years after leaving the Lottery. "If signed into law, it appears to create the strictest employment ban in state government, holding Lottery employees to a higher standard than other state workers. "…The new laws also would make permanent a recently adopted ban on Lottery employees taking gifts from vendors and would require the Lottery to put its contracts out to bid at least every five years.
