College Poker Players Donate to Charity30 May 2006(PRESS RELEASE) -- The world's best college poker player has been crowned. Ryan R, a student and successful Campus Rep from the University of Ottawa, outplayed 33,000 opponents to claim the College Poker Championship™ III title and a $50,000 cash scholarship on May 21st, 2006. The action was intense as students from around the world competed for a share of $125,000 worth of scholarships prizes. Ryan and the other top ten finalists not only walked away with a more secure college future, but they also enriched the lives of the less fortunate by donating $1,000 each to the charity of their choice. Ryan made his donation to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada. The College Poker Championship III is a unique community upliftment initiative that is free to enter and only offers education-based prizes. It takes place as a series of online Texas Hold'em tournaments, exclusively for registered college students. The College Poker Championship III also allows students to earn while they learn through its Campus Rep Program. Campus Reps are motivated, poker-playing students who form an integral part of a rewarding and entertaining campaign to award cash scholarships and advance student poker. The College Poker Championship III exceeded all expectations - it was exciting, challenging and most importantly, successful in its goal to enhance the lives of everyone involved and beyond. You can start practicing for next year's College Poker Championship this June in the College Poker Try-Outs. This is also a great time to sign-up as a Campus Rep and leave delivering pizzas behind forever. With the success of this year's event, 2007 promises to be even better, with bigger scholarship prizes, awesome earning potential, more winners and greater community impact. |
