CNIGA Elects New Chairman

TEMECULA, California – (Press Release) -- Anthony Miranda was elected chairman of the California Nations Indian Gaming Association at the organization's annual meeting Wednesday at the Pechanga Resort & Casino. Miranda, CNIGA's executive secretary for the past two years, is a member of the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians and serves as vice president of the tribe's economic development corporation. Miranda replaces Brenda Soulliere, CNIGA's chairwoman for the past two years. Soulliere is a member of the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians in Indio.

The position of CNIGA executive secretary will be filled in a special election at the association's monthly membership meeting in January. Ken Gilbert, a member of the Mooretown Rancheria in Oroville, was re-elected to a second two-year term as CNIGA treasurer. CNIGA is an association of 57 tribal governments dedicated to the protection of tribal sovereignty and the right of tribes to game on Indian lands.
