City Meeting Called for Ho-Chunk Casino Proposal

ILLINOIS – As reported by the (Illinois) Southtown Daily: "Lansing is gearing up to host a town hall meeting over the Ho-Chunk Nation's proposed casino and entertainment complex in Lynwood, the first time such a meeting will take place regarding the project.

"Mayor Dan Podgorski said the meeting is likely to be in the last week of October. He said the meeting will include representatives from the Ho-Chunk Nation and Citizens for Our Community, a group of residents lobbying against the proposed casino.

"…The meeting's purpose is to clear up confusion regarding several sets of statistics for and against the casino being distributed throughout the region.

"…U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-2nd) and the Ho-Chunk Nation announced plans last spring to build a mega casino and entertainment complex.

"…A number of members of Citizens for Our Community are Lansing residents, and for months they have been pushing the Lansing Village Board to pass a resolution against the proposed casino…"
