City Links Casino to Sport Scheme

CARDIFF, Wales -- As reported by the BBC: "Cardiff council has made an official bid for a "super" casino to be built in the city.

"If the plans are given the go-ahead, the casino development would prompt early large scale investment into the £700m sports village, the council said.

"The authority warned that if the casino plan was turned down, the sports plans would be delayed beyond their deadline of 2012.

"...Currently the Gambling Act only allows for one regional casino, but Cardiff, along with other authorities, is calling for that to change.

"...The UK/Australian firm Aspers has been named by the council as its preferred operator of the casino, and it is claimed it would create 1,500 new jobs..."
