City Licenses For Vendors On Fast Track

SARATOGA SPRINGS – As reported by The Saratogian: "Vendors could be at work outside Saratoga Race Course again in about 10 days.

"More than 30 people interested in setting up shop on East Avenue and Frank Sullivan Place had called by 5 p.m. Wednesday, one day after the City Council voted to contract with vendors, said Deborah Harper, deputy commissioner of Accounts.

"…Officials throughout City Hall worked on the logistics of selling licenses Wednesday. The city wants to sell vendor licenses for spots outside the racecourse to help fill a $30,000 budget gap created because the New York Racing Association dropped a long-standing agreement that let the city park cars near Siro's restaurant. The money helped fund the city recreation department.

"…Licenses will cost between $500 and $1,500 depending on their closeness to the track gates and high volumes of foot traffic.
