City Council Approves Pro-Casino Resolution

ROCKFORD, Illinois – As reported by the Rockford Register-Star: ``The City Council Monday approved a resolution urging the Illinois Legislature to create a license for a riverboat casino in Rockford.

``The voice vote approving the resolution was met with applause from the 50-or-so people, mostly union members, in the audience who held up neon-colored signs in support of Rockford getting a casino.

``…Supporters pointed out the large number of jobs a casino would create and the boost to the area's economic development…"
