Churchill Downs Incorporated names Elizabeth Wester Vice President Government Relations5 September 2014LOUISVILLE, Kentucky -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI or Company) (CHDN) announced Elizabeth Wester has been promoted to Vice President of Government Relations. Wester's new role will commence immediately and she will report directly to William Carstanjen, CDI's Chief Executive Officer. Wester joined Churchill Downs Incorporated in April 2012 as the Senior Director of Government Relations. "During her tenure with CDI, Elizabeth has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to lead the Company's multi-state and federal legislative advocacy and we are pleased to announce this well-deserved promotion," Carstanjen said. In her new role, Wester will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Company's political and legislative strategies. Wester has over a decade of extensive experience in government relations. Prior to joining CDI, Wester was an Associate at Floridian Partners, LLC, in Tallahassee, Fla. for five years, where she focused on state legislative advocacy for a multitude of clients. Prior to her time at Floridian Partners, LLC, Wester served as Vice President of Government Affairs for the Florida Bankers Association where she advocated on behalf of the Association at both the state and federal level. Wester, a native of Tallahassee, Fla., holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and graduated with Honors in History from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
