Chukchansi Tribe Dismisses Casino Operator

CALIFORNIA -- As reported by the Fresno Bee: "The Chukchansi Indian tribe has dismissed the operator of its Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino, marking the latest move in a long-running dispute over the financing of the $180 million Madera County entertainment center.

"…Joyce Burel, chairwoman of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians, only said the tribe made the move because an organization called the Tribal Gaming Commission revoked Cascade's license.

"The tribe has not yet hired a new management company, Burel said. Only two of the casino's 1,300 employees worked for Cascade, she said, adding that the rest work for the tribe.

"Cascade says it was unfairly dismissed, claiming the commission is an arm of the tribe…"
