Choctaw Casino Resort Durant to celebrate a decade of Gilley’s

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Choctaw Casino Resort – Durant will commemorate the 10th anniversary Gilley’s, the iconic Texas entertainment venue made famous in the 1980 blockbuster Urban Cowboy inspired by the late Mickey Gilley, the country singer who founded the bar in 1989 in Pasadena, Texas.

Choctaw will mark the occasion with a series of festivities, including an Acoustic show by Cody Cannon of Whiskey Myers in the Grand Theater (tickets available at Ticketmaster.com), a free concert by Sons of Fannin, a $5 draft beer special in a commemorative cup, a Boston Cream Cake special, photo opportunity and more! Limited edition anniversary t-shirts will be available for purchase for $10.

“We’ve seen some amazing performances at Gilley’s over the past decade and we are thrilled to be able to offer our guests this no-cost entertainment option when they visit,” said Jeff Penz, Senior Director of Gaming Operations at Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant. “Part bar, part restaurant and part live music venue, there is something for everyone at Gilley’s and we are excited to celebrate 10 years this weekend.

Since opening in 2012, Gilley’s has served as an iconic destination for of food, fun, and free entertainment with some of the best-in-class live music every Friday and Saturday. The 8,900-square-foot Gilley’s at Choctaw’s Durant resort is one of three Gilley’s (the others are in Dallas and Las Vegas), all designed to recreate the original location in Pasadena, Texas.

Over the years, Gilley’s has hosted a wide range of concerts from mainstream artists like Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, Whiskey Myers, Cody Jinks, John Anderson, Neal McCoy, Tracy Lawrence, Charley Crockett, Pat Green, Mark Chesnutt, Mike Ryan, William Clark Green and Uncle Kracker.
