Chicago Casino Rail Link Proposed

ROCKFORD, Illinois – As reported by the Rockford Register Star: "Developer Kurt Carlson is dreaming of a passenger rail link to connect Rockford and Chicagoland to the proposed casino he hopes to build in Beloit for two northern Wisconsin Indian bands.

"A city of Beloit official and a representative of the St. Croix and Bad River bands of the Chippewa, which would own the casino, say they like the concept, which Carlson presented to them at a meeting Monday in Beloit.

"But Carlson, who issued a news release Friday about his rail plan, hasn't provided details of how the rail system would be built, who would pay for it or how much it would cost.

"…Carlson admitted his train plan is just in its preliminary phase.

"…The gambling project planned for Beloit would include a casino, an indoor water park, convention/conference center, a 500-room hotel and a music theater that might serve as home base for Rockford's Cheap Trick. Carlson's brother, Bun E. Carlos, is the band's drummer…"
