Cherokee Nation breaking ground on eighth Oklahoma casino19 May 2010TULSA, Oklahoma -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Cherokee Nation Entertainment, the gaming, entertainment, hospitality and retail entity of the Cherokee Nation, is breaking ground on its eighth casino in northeastern Oklahoma. The new casino will be located in Ramona. The gaming operation is designed to be implemented in two phases, ultimately creating more than 100 jobs in the area over the next two years. "Our goal is first and foremost to create good-paying, stable jobs in our Cherokee communities," said David Stewart, CEO of CNE. "We have proven that our gaming operations are an asset to the communities in which we reside. The city of Ramona recognizes this and has been a very welcoming and great partner to work with." The 10,000-square-foot casino will initially include more than 200 electronic games and concession-type food and beverage offerings. "We are starting site work immediately, including access roads and foundation work. We anticipate having buildings in place and opening to the public in early summer," said Stewart. Cherokee Casino Ramona will be located on a 20-acre site west of Interstate 75 and north of the Ramona exit, halfway between Tulsa and Bartlesville. CNE chose the location because of its strategic positioning between the two metropolitan areas and the convenient highway access. |
