Charity Bingo Hall Raises Millions

WYOMING – As reported by the Casper Star-Tribune: "Millions of dollars have flowed over the years through Troopers Bingo, the main fund-raising arm of the nonprofit Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, according to recently released financial statements for the 2004 and 2005 fiscal years.

"Over the same time, debt has dogged the organization known as 'Wyoming's Musical Ambassadors,' which is one of the reasons why the Troopers board of directors decided it will not field a corps in 2006.

"But the bingo operation cannot simply lower the payouts for bingo games and pull tabs to increase revenues and pay off present and future debts, Troopers interim director Mike Ottoes and business manager Brian Harris said Sunday.

"…Troopers Bingo -- featuring bingo, pull tabs and other revenues such as concessions -- raised $1.9 million in fiscal year 2005 ending Sept. 30, up 10.6 percent from $1.7 million in fiscal year 2004…"
