Charges dropped against Illinois prosecutor

WILL COUNTY, Illinois – As reported by the Chicago Tribune: "Citing mitigating circumstances, the Will County state's attorney's office Thursday dropped misdemeanor trespassing charges against a high-level Cook County prosecutor.

"As a result, Assistant State's Atty. Scott Cassidy, 49, returned to his post as chief of the special prosecutions bureau, said John Gorman, spokesman for the state's attorney's office.

"…Cassidy was arrested in September at Empress Casino Joliet after he allegedly refused at least 10 police orders to leave the casino when asked. Earlier, casino staff cut him off from drinks and asked him to leave, police said…"
