Celebrity chefs prepare for Foxwoods event6 September 2007MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -– With less than three weeks to go before the second annual Foxwoods Food & Wine Festival comes to Foxwoods Resort Casino from September 14-16, 2007, the participating cast of celebrity chefs are busy making their final preparations for what is sure to be the culinary event of the season. It's not all work and no play, however, as the chefs are practicing their poker faces for the highly anticipated Celebrity Chef Poker Tournament taking place on Sunday, September 16 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Grand Pequot Casino near Club Newport. Chefs including Franklin Becker (New York-based Brasserie), David Burke (New York-based davidburke & donatella), Harold Dieterle (New York-based Perilla), Michael Schlow (Boston-based Radius), Sam Talbot (Top Chef, Season 2) and Ming Tsai (Boston-based Blue Ginger) will be competing for the top three purses of $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000 respectively to award to the charity of their choice. One of the most anticipated events of the Food & Wine Festival, the Celebrity Chef Poker Tournament is open to the public, allowing guests a first-hand look into the lives of their favorite chefs when they are outside of the kitchen and enjoying camaraderie with colleagues. Returning as the host of this year's tournament is Sissy Biggers, host of "A Big Life with Sissy Biggers," on MSN Video, NBC Universal's broadband content delivery. The first to host a show in this format, Biggers offers a fresh approach to entertaining, parties, gardening, food and more during each segment. She was the former host of Ready, Set, Cook! the popular series on The Food Network. Biggers' expertise has also earned her national recognition on NBC's Today Show, Weekend Today, Fox & Friends and The View. Sponsored by Food & Wine magazine, the second annual Foxwoods Food & Wine Festival will bring together some of the biggest names in the culinary world including Lidia Bastianich, Giada de Laurentiis, David Burke, Dave Lieberman, Masaharu Morimoto, Michael Schlow and Ming Tsai over three days of festivities including gala dinners and events, grand tastings, cooking demonstrations and book signings. A wealth of notable wine and spirits experts such as Pam Aulisi, Joe Bastianich, Anthony Giglio, Ray Isle and Divas Uncorked will also be in attendance, leading a variety of engaging seminars throughout the weekend. A portion of the weekend's proceeds will provide scholarships to the prestigious College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. |
