Celebrities line up to play in Sky Poker Tour

3 March 2010

LONDON, England -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Sky Poker, the first multiplatform poker room, is preparing to welcome a host of celebrities to the next leg of its sell out live tour. Horse racing pundit, John McCririck; Kitty Lea, listed as one of Front Magazine's fittest women ever; former Tottenham, Chelsea and Portsmouth midfielder, Micky Hazard and Johnny Nelson, former WBO Cruiserweight World Champion will all be taking their seats in the 150 seat tournament at Luton's G Casino on Saturday 6th March 2010.

Although more at home with the odds of the race track, John McCririck is no rookie when it comes to playing poker. In addition to playing on Sky Poker and in the occasional celebrity tournament, John also plays poker whenever he is in Las Vegas. When asked about the differences between poker and horse racing, John said: "The big difference is that in poker you make the decisions, with other betting events you are betting on other people, that is why poker is so popular. It is your fault whether you win or not!"

Model, actress and DJ, Kitty Lea (pictured) first got into poker through an ex-boyfriend, who was a professional poker player. Kitty likes to play poker as often as her busy schedule allows, or when she is in the mood: "I don't want to be playing when I'm tired and grumpy as I will just end up losing," Kitty says.

Former professional footballer, Mickey Hazard plays poker most frequently at home, but also when he appears on Sky Poker. In fact his best result in a poker tournament was in the Sky Poker 500, in which he finished ninth. When comparing poker to football Mickey says there are some similarities: "The similarity is that you have to use your brain to think and outthink and outmaneuver the opposition."

Johnny Nelson is Sheffield's own WBO Cruiserweight World Champion, a title he gained by defeating Carl Thompson in 1999. Johnny plays poker on a regular basis and has also appeared on Sky Poker. He says that "the meaning 'poker face' is something all boxers need to succeed."

All tickets for the Luton leg of the Sky Poker Tour are now sold out, however to find out how to qualify for seats for the remaining legs of the Sky Poker Tour in Glasgow on 8th May, Swansea on 10th July and Nottingham on 11th and 12th of September please visit www.skypoker.com/tour
