Catalina Casino to Celebrate 75th Anniversary

25 March 2004

CATALINA ISLAND, California – (Press Release) -- Rising from its perch on the edge of the sea, the Catalina Casino has become Catalina Island's most recognizable landmark.

This May, the legendary Catalina Casino will celebrate its 75th Anniversary. To celebrate this landmark event, the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau has created a promotion titled 75 Days of Savings.

Visitors traveling to Catalina Island between April 1 and June 14, 2004 can take advantage of some great deals. More than 40 island businesses, including hotels, attractions, restaurants, shops, and transportation companies, are offering fabulous discounts and give-aways!

To receive a Celebration Savings Card, stop by the Visitors Center on the Green Pier in Avalon, or call (310) 510-1520 to request one by mail.

Celebration Sweepstakes

The Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce will also be running a Celebration Sweepstakes throughout the promotion. Each week between April 1 and June 14, one winner will receive a trip for two to Catalina Island, including boat, hotel, and activities.

Visitors are automatically entered to win the Celebration Sweepstakes when they pick up their Celebration Savings Card on Catalina Island or request one by mail.

Catalina Casino's 75th Birthday Party

On May 29, 2004, the Catalina Casino will celebrate its 75th Anniversary with a special event in the Casino Ballroom. The event will feature birthday cake, memorabilia, and music.

Two bands and a DJ will present a musical tribute to the Casino and cover seven decades of music -- perfect for dancing the night away! Unique displays will be set up in the Casino Ballroom, including artifacts on loan from the Catalina Island Museum showcasing the Casino's heyday from the Big Band era. A full bar and a select menu will be available.
