Casinos Win with UK Rule8 April 2004UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the UK Telegraph: "Casino operators were chips in yesterday after the Parliamentary committee scrutinising gambling legislation rubber-stamped recommendations that the industry be deregulated. "Rank Group, which rose 10.25 to 335.25p, said it welcomed the report's conclusion that gambling laws should be changed as soon as possible. Chief executive Mike Smith said the recommendations represented "a further substantial and positive step towards the introduction of a new legislative framework." "Rival casino group London Clubs International also rose 4.25 to 120.5p, while Stanley Leisure was up 9.75 to 489p at the close of trading. "Hotels chain Hilton Group, which owns Ladbrokes bookmakers, rose 5.25 to 237.25p and William Hill, which starts its first day trading on the FTSE 100 today, rose 12.25 to 519.25p…" |
