Casinos Keep Adding New Entertainment

CONNECTICUT -- As reported by the Day: ``The American Indian operators of Connecticut's two casinos find themselves at different stages of development as 2004 gets underway.

``The Mashantucket Pequots are in a growth mode with their Foxwoods Resort Casino. The Mohegan Indians are coming off a major expansion of Mohegan Sun and looking to fine tune the finished product.

``The Mashantuckets are in the midst of a $100 million expansion project at Foxwoods Resort Casino and have dedicated another $120 million to refurbish their existing facility. Construction of an adjacent golf resort, called Lake of Isles, is progressing and the tribe is looking at other expansion options.

``…Across the river, the Mohegans are looking to fine tune their facility having completed their expansion last year with the addition of a nightclub suite, three Krispy Kreme doughnut outlets and the purchase of the Connecticut Sun WNBA basketball team.

```We'll be focusing at this point on really continuing to grow our business, taking care of our customers and operating efficiently,' said Mitchell Etess, executive vice president of marketing. 'I think we're hopeful the economy will pick up speed and we'll see positive things.'…"
