Casinos Hiring Brazil students

CONNECTICUT -- As reported by the Norwich Bulletin: ``Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun have hired several hundred Brazilian students to work in their casinos through the winter.

``The students from Florianopolis, a popular tourist destination about an hour and a half north of Rio de Janiero, should begin working at the casinos in the next month. They are expected to stay through March.

```We attended job fairs there,' said Kevin Bogle, vice president of human resources for Mohegan Sun. 'There are approximately 106 employees coming (to Mohegan Sun) from that area. We're hiring them primarily in the hotel and food and beverage departments, and we're identifying housekeepers and front desk receptionists.'

``…The students, ranging in age from 18 to 26, were hired through Direct Educational Exchange, a company in Sacramento, Calif., that also recruited more than 400 Polish students to work at the casinos last summer. The Polish workers made up to six times what they would have in their homeland…"
