Casinos and bingo halls in London closing down

16 December 2020

Casinos and bingo halls in the U.K. are being forced to shutdown temporarily as of today in response to a rise in COVID-19 cases.

The increase of positive cases has led to the decision for the U.K. to enter a more strict tier of restrictions in order to lower the number of cases.

Areas affected by this change include Greater London and parts of Essex and Hertfordshire in the south of England.

In addition to nobody being allowed to attend casinos and bingo halls, supporters aren't allowed to attend sporting events in the above locations.

In response to the mandate to close, Simon Thomas, CEO of The Hippodrome Casino London said"

"The Government has announced all hospitality businesses in London must close for a short time over Christmas as the city has been moved into Tier 3.

"The good news is we'll be working hard behind the scenes to make our re-opening even bigger, better and bolder than before, in true Hippodrome style. Until then I’d like to wish you a very Happy Christmas and holiday season. Please stay safe, keep well and we’ll see you soon."
