Casino Windsor Revenues Drop

ONTARIO – As reported by the Windsor Star: "Casino Windsor revenues tumbled 16 per cent in the fiscal year ended March 31, caused mainly by a litany of events out of their control, according to casino officials.

"The SARS outbreak, the electricity blackout and the mad cow scares added to the ongoing border woes, creating a compounding effect that led to the decline, said Keith Andrews, vice-president of corporate affairs.

"…The number of patrons dropped by about 1.1 million over the 12-month period.

"There was a daily average attendance of 12,826 compared to 13,559 in the previous year.

"…Financial losses of about $1 million a day during the 41-day strike are not included in the latest figures, said Jim Cronin, senior public relations manager for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission…"
