Casino Windsor Celebrates Milestone

WINDSOR, Ontario – As reported by the Windsor Star: "Even the alarm system joined the chorus Monday when Casino Windsor celebrated its 10th anniversary with a cake-cutting.

"Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis had to compete with the building's alarm system as he and casino president Kevin Laforet launched a celebration that marks 10 years of the Ontario government's first publicly run gambling operation.

"…Since the temporary casino opened in 1994, followed by the glittering, permanent structure in July 1998, Casino Windsor has had to battle through slowing economies, SARS and Mad Cow disease, border-crossing delays, increased competition from Detroit and a crippling strike last spring…"
