Casino union resumes picketing outside Tropicana22 July 2012The Associated Press reports that picketing staged Saturday at the Tropicana Atlantic City Casino & Resort was organized by members of Local 54 of Unite-HERE, the city’s main casino workers union. It was led by 21 Tropicana workers who were recently reinstated to their jobs after being suspended for 30 days following a similar protest last month. According to the AP report, the union has staged several events in recent months to protest the lack of a new contract and the casino’s termination of its employee pension plan in favor of cash payments to workers. |
