Casino union opposes Ohio ballot measure

As reported by the Cleveland Plain Dealer: "The largest casino union in the U.S. is opposing a ballot measure that would allow a casino to be built in Ohio.

"UNITE HERE, which represents 200,000 workers in the gambling and casino industry, says the developers of the proposed casino have a 'troubling track record.'

"The union's report primarily dealt with Lakes Entertainment and its CEO Lyle Berman, who was chairman of the board at the now bankrupt Stratosphere casino in Las Vegas.

"UNITE HERE spokesman Chris Bohner also said the union believes the casino would be non-union and jobs would be at a lower pay scale..."
