Casino tackles problem patrons issue

24 November 2006

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald: "A month after the final civil settlement in the Peter Dalamangas case, Star City is consulting an international expert about managing aggressive, disturbed or suicidal behaviour on the casino floor.

"The expert, Robert Murray, from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Ontario, Canada, yesterday delivered a paper, Taking the Training of Casino Staff to the Next Level, on dealing with such problems.

"…Mr Dalamangas died on January 31, 1998, after an altercation involving seven casino security staff.

"…Peter Grimshaw, Star City's spokesman, said nothing as serious as the Dalamangas case had happened since, but the casino was seeking to improve its system to deal with problems professionally before they got out of hand."
