Casino Ship Casts a Line for New Port

FORT PIERCE, Florida -- As reported by the Palm Beach Post: "After less than two months in operation, the company that runs the gambling ship Lady Luck is pulling up stakes and reportedly looking to dock in Martin County.

"Shortly after a sea wall cave-in on Friday that damaged the boat, city officials said the owner of the Fort Piece marina dock where Lady Luck is moored asked the ship's owner to be out by the end of the month.

"John Alcorn, director of the city's building and community response department, said news of the move doesn't change the numerous code violations the company is scheduled to face at a special hearing Wednesday at city hall.

"A woman who answered the phone Monday at Coin Castle Inc., which operates the ship, said cruises are suspended temporarily, but that the staff hopes to have one running out of Stuart by Friday.

"...A recording at Coin Castle later in the day said the company was "in the process of moving our port" and will have a "grand reopening" Saturday.

"Lady Luck made headlines after it struck a fishing pier June 17 near the South Bridge during its first cruise out of Fort Pierce..."
