Casino Robberies Scare Sioux Falls' Workers

SOUTH DAKOTA – As reported by the Argus Leader: " Workers in Sioux Falls' many video lottery establishments are on edge after two casino robberies in the city Monday.

"Three casinos were robbed early last month, and Monday's robberies - the first such crimes this year - follow a jump in total robberies in the city during 2005.

"Police spokesman Loren McManus said casino robberies seem to happen in cycles.

"…People who work in casinos said Tuesday they've noticed the pattern, and that the robberies are concerning.

"…Sioux Falls experienced 73 total robberies in 2005. That's an increase of 25 compared to the average for the previous three years. So far in 2006, the city has seen six robberies, which sets a pace to exceed last year's total…"
