Casino Queen's sale is in doubt

ILLINOIS – As reported by St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "Illinois gambling regulators plan no decision today on a Kentucky company's request to buy the Casino Queen in East St. Louis.

"With time running out — the sale needs to be completed by month's end to meet the terms of the sale agreement — the future of the $200 million deal could be thrown into question.

"…Now Columbia Sussex is hoping for a positive answer from the Illinois Gaming Board.

"However, the proposed sale is not listed on the board's agenda of items scheduled for final action during its regular meeting in Springfield, Ill.

"Board spokesman Gene O'Shea said Tuesday that the group's investigation of Columbia Sussex is still under way, and that the pace cannot be set by the terms of a sales contract.
