Casino Parking Space Feud Cools17 February 2005LAS VEGAS – As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal: "The feud between officials from Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Wynn Resorts Ltd. over the number of available parking spaces at The Venetian and the developing $1.6 billion Palazzo cooled a bit Wednesday. "The long-simmering debate eased somewhat when the Clark County Commission approved construction of a Walgreens pharmacy that will front Las Vegas Boulevard and eventually be incorporated into the new resort's retail component. "But the 6-0 vote by commissioners doesn't mean a truce has been reached in the matter in which Wynn Resorts has questioned the number of parking spaces that will be available at the site of The Venetian and Palazzo, which includes the 1.9 million-square-foot Sands Exposition Center. "…In a presentation to the commissioners, Fred Krause, general counsel for The Venetian, said an agreement to lease parking spaces from the New Frontier had been reached, and sites off Spring Mountain Road and land that had been the Central Park West apartments off Koval Lane would be developed as temporary parking areas that would give the resort the needed spaces to accommodate employees and construction workers. "Krause said The Venetian had reached a deal with Harrah's Las Vegas where the neighboring resorts would construct a joint-parking garage for employees, with The Venetian using 2,770 spaces…" |
