Casino money divides Gettysburg council

GETTYSBURG, Pennsylvania – As reported by the Evening Sun: "Gettysburg Borough Council members argued Monday about how a proposed revenue-sharing arrangement should have been negotiated.

"Council President Ted Streeter and Councilman Bill Monahan met several weeks ago with Straban Township and the Adams County commissioners to discuss how to distribute money from the state if a proposed casino is licensed in Straban. They settled on 12.5 percent each going to Straban and Gettysburg Borough governments, with the rest of the estimated $20 million remaining for the county's use and distribution to other municipalities.

"But as residents attending Monday's meeting said, only council members who had voted in favor of supporting a casino were involved in the negotiations…"
