Casino License Application Lodged for UK Development

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the Coventry Observer: "An official application for a casino licence at the Coventry Arena development was lodged this week.

"Isle Of Capri, the American company behind the establishment being built next to the stadium in Rowleys Green, has formally applied for a gambling licence for the venue.

"If granted by city magistrates, it will be for a scaled down version of the super casino originally planned to open.

"Under existing gambling laws, the maximum floor space of such an establishment can only be a tenth of the size of the 100,000 sq ft casino Isle Of Capri wanted to build.

"… The American consortium had previously pinned their hopes on becoming one of the country's first such venues after signing up to the Arena project almost two years ago.

"Now Isle of Capri has been forced to apply for a downgraded casino - until the company can bid for one of the regional casino licences…"
