Casino law suit given go-ahead

AUSTRALIA -- As reported by the Herald-Sun: "Crown casino will go to trial over explosive claims it lured a banned pathological gambler to blow $30 million.

"Supreme Court Justice David Harper yesterday ruled the casino had a case to answer in its dispute with multi-millionaire Gold Coast property developer Harry Kakavas.

"Mr Kakavas, 40, alleges he lost $30 million playing high-stakes baccarat in a 14-month gambling spree from June 2005, despite an earlier life ban.

"The confessed gambling addict claims he was lured back to the casino in a plan hatched by chief operating officer John Williams, the stepson of Crown's developer and former owner, Lloyd Williams

He is suing Crown and Mr Williams for the $30 million he says he lost, plus damages..."
