Casino Event to Help Charities

MISSOURI – As reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "To Harry Bean, life must seem like an endless string of melon baskets, shrimp rings and chocolate fountains.

"The ubiquitous Bean - and no man has ever worn an adjective so comfortably - has spent the past 2 1/2 decades sipping, dipping and hobnobbing his way through St. Louis' social and cultural elite.

"…Later this month, Bean is offering up what he describes as not just the charity event of the summer, but what he says might become the grandest charity event ever in the St. Louis area.

"Elegantly named the Blacktie Foundation Charity Ball, Bean says the gala at the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles will take 'the best of the best' from the vast portfolio of parties he has attended and roll it all into one dazzling soiree.

"…But what makes the event unique, Bean says, is the way proceeds will be allocated to area charities. Each guest who plunks down the $150 entry fee for the July 24 event ($100 for those under age 40 and $250 for those who want to pay for a special VIP lounge), will be allowed to assign his or her contribution to any of more than 300 local charitable organizations…"
