Casino employees donate food to local charity5 April 2012MULDROW, Okla. (PRESS RELEASE) -- Lees Chapel Assembly of God in Muldrow is replenishing the cupboards thanks to a recent contribution from employees at Cherokee Casino Roland and Cherokee Casino Sallisaw. The church serves as a pantry for the Muldrow Backpack Program, which provides food every weekend throughout the school year to children in need. “Right now we serve 81 children,” said LaRuth Huggins, Muldrow Backpack Program coordinator. “We are very grateful to the employees at Cherokee Casino. We couldn’t serve these children without donations like this.” Casino employees donated nearly 400 food items and collected $700 in cash, which was used to purchase additional food items. The donation is helping the Muldrow Backpack Program serve children for the eleventh year. "It is very rewarding to be a small part of this program,” said Jonathan Cherry, operations manager at Cherokee Casino Roland. “Our employees truly embraced this cause and understand the importance of helping children in our community who are in need.” Individuals interested in supporting the program through either monetary donations or food can contact Lees Chapel at 918-427-7005. |
