Casino downturn slows in August18 September 2008COLORADO -- As reported by The Denver Post: "The year-long decline in casino revenue slowed in August, according to data released today by the Colorado Division of Gaming. "The state's mountain casinos posted revenue of $68.2 million last month, down 5.3 percent from August 2007 when the industry recorded $72 million in adjusted gross proceeds (total bets minus payouts). "The industry has suffered double-digit declines much of the year, including a 14 percent drop in July and 12 percent drop in June. "Casino officials have attributed the slowdown to the faltering economy, high gas prices and the statewide smoking ban..." |
