Casino considered for downtown Reno

RENO, Nevada – As reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal: "At least two developers are considering building a hotel-casino at the northeast corner of Keystone Avenue and Fifth Street, which would be allowed under zoning changes that the Reno City Council will consider today.

"Keystone Investments Holdings Inc. purchased most of the block from Keystone Square shopping center owners on Friday. It's considering options, ranging from a hotel-casino to a mix of residential and retail for the site, said Keystone partner Thomas Haberkorn, of Beverly Hills, Calif.

"Keystone Inc. did not ask for the zoning changes, but a conversation between developers and city planners probably prompted the city to seek the changes, Haberkorn said.

"…Mayor Bob Cashell said he wouldn't have a problem with the casino as long as it comes with hotel rooms. It would be the first new casino built downtown since the Silver Legacy opened in 1995…"
