Casino Arizona names new general manager

24 April 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Casino Arizona, enterprises of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC), is proud to announce the promotion of Trenni Martinez to the role of general manager for Casino Arizona. Martinez comes to the position after serving as director of slots for Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort since 2014.

“Casino Arizona is in the midst of celebrating its 20th anniversary and regardless of whatever level of success that has been achieved, we cannot become complacent,” said Dennis Leong, president and CEO of Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort. “The appointment of Trenni Martinez to the role of general manger will help to ensure consistency in the high quality of amenities and guest service at Casino Arizona in years to come.”

As general manager for Casino Arizona, Martinez will oversee all casino operations, serving as liaison between all departments, and supervise managers that handle day-to-day customer service opportunities. Further, Martinez will help set direction for the future of the property recommending necessary changes that will enhance its profitability and make it a better workplace.

“The good news is, nothing is broken,” said Martinez. “This is an amazing property and my goal is to look at it daily, piece by piece, in an effort to evaluate how to make it even better, not only for our guests, but for our employees as well. All the answers are out there you just have to listen.”

Martinez graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in business and joined the management team at the Isle of Capri Casino in 1996. During his tenure there he worked his way up, taking on roles as a valet, cook, slot manager and eventually a senior director of operations. He continued to hone his hospitality skills, serving as assistant general manager at various tourism sectors including Seminole Coconut Creek Casino for more than seven years. In June 2014, he joined Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona.

His tenure with both properties has given him insight into competitors and the market as a whole. “We are so lucky that this is such a great market for gaming. We can be thoughtful and calculating in deciding what needs to happen,” said Martinez. “The key will be cultivating and growing our existing relationships, while preserving our history. In the end, everything centers around our relationships with guests.”
