Carnegie Cooke's OTB Includes Slot Machines

6 January 2004

BRAZIL – (Press Release) -- Carnegie Cooke & Company, Inc. (OTC: CGKY), an authorized provider of gaming services in Brazil, announced today that Monday, January 26, will mark the beginning of its casino gaming operation in Brazil.

"On that date," explained Jay Goldberg, Carnegie's president and chief executive, "we will open a Racing Book in Campos, Rio de Janeiro, that will have casino-type slot machines, as well as simulcast transmissions of Brazilian and international races on which patrons could wager. It will be located in Campos at Avenida 7 de Setembro, 364 Centro."

Carnegie will open the off-track-betting facility under its contract with the Jockey Club de Campos, Brazil's third largest club, as measured by wagering volume. That agreement, which was announced last October 30, has the two companies working in partnership to modernize and expand operations at the club, and allows Carnegie to install race books at the club and at key locations in the region covered by the club's franchise. Mr. Goldberg indicated that plans for other off-track-betting parlors are under consideration.
