CAP head quizzed about super casino pick

BLACKPOOL, England – As reported by the Blackpool Citizen: "Support for Blackpool's super-casino bid is growing as MPs and Lords prepare to debate the casino licences in the next few weeks.

"Professor Stephen Crow, the chairman of the independent Casino Advisory Panel (CAP), was this week given a rough ride by a House of Lords committee.

"The Merits of Statutory Instruments Committee questioned Prof Crow, and Sports Minister Richard Caborn over the decision to recommend east Manchester as the site of the country's first super-casino.

"The committee quizzed Prof Crow on the panel's criteria for measuring social impact and regeneration, and he responded by saying casinos were best located where people can't walk out of their front doors straight into a casino, and that Manchester would be a more profitable location, and therefore provide greater regeneration…"
