Canterbury Park Unsure About New Track's Impact

MINNESOTA – As reported by the Minneapolis Business Journal: "Canterbury Park Holding Corp. said Thursday that it does not know how a new racetrack in Anoka County will affect the company.

"On Wednesday, the Minnesota Racing Commission approved a new harness racetrack in Anoka County's Columbus Township by a vote of 5-3. The new racetrack, owned by Minneapolis-based Southwest Casino Corp. and Chester, W. Va.-based MTR Gaming, will also pursue a license for a card room similar to the one at Canterbury.

"'At this point we do not have enough information to determine whether the addition of a second racetrack facility will have a material adverse effect on our operations,' said Randy Sampson, president and CEO of Canterbury Park…"
