Canberra: New South Wales smoking us on pokies

20 December 2010

CANBERRA, Australia -- Canberra clubs want a tax cut from the Government because they are losing gamblers across the border in Queanbeyan, according to The Canberra Times.

The clubs cite their disadvantage beside outdoor poker machines in New South Wales, where punters can smoke, as the reason a tax cut of $4.2 million is in order, the report said.

The clubs insist the tax regime is unfair and must be restructured, The Canberra Times reported.
