Canadian Lottery Players Trust Luck

CANADA – As reported by the Montreal Gazette: "Don't ask a psychic for the winning numbers of the Lotto 6/49. 'If I knew, I wouldn't tell you. I'd play the numbers myself,' said Anna Amenabo, a fortune teller who casts African shells.

"Lacking the assistance of psychics, most people betting on last night's record jackpot relied on their own numbers, or on a stroke of sympathy from a computer randomizer.

"Last night's jackpot was a whopping $29 million, the largest prize in 6/49 history. It was enough to get lottery naysayers like Mark Gouvreau to hazard a ticket.

"…With odds of one in 14 million of bagging the top prize, it takes an unshakable positive attitude to convince yourself you might actually win. And that's what Darlene, who declined to give her family name, says is the secret.

"'I'm always lucky because I always know I'll win,' Darlene said. Positive attitude, she said, won her four trips, a television, a VCR, a few bicycles, clothes, and minor prizes in the 6/49 and the Quebec 49…"
