Canada: Albertans' gambling less

5 November 2010

EDMONTON, Alberta --Not only are Albertans cutting back slightly on the drink, they're gambling less according to a government report, The Edmonton Journal reported.

In 2009 they spent $234 million at casinos, while $1.4 billion was generated for the Alberta Lottery Fund and licensed charitable gaming opportunities, The Edmonton Journal said.

The figures for alcohol and gaming show a drop to $2.121 billion in 2009 from $2.293 billion in 2007, the report noted.
