Camrose Resort Casino spawns competitors7 June 2007CAMROSE, Alberta -- As reported by the Edmonton Journal: "The $20-million Camrose Resort Casino opened Tuesday and already has spawned three competitors for an attached hotel still being built. "The casino, styled as a southern mansion, has 200 slot machines, 12 table games and a 12-table poker room. But Jason Pechet, president of majority-owner Mayfield Hospitality, says almost half the space is committed to non-gaming features -- an entertainment area, a bar, a restaurant and the kitchen, which also will serve the hotel. "...More than 200 patrons lined up for the 10 a.m. opening, then rushed to occupy most of the slot machines, where electronic music and sound effects played softly..." |
