Call for More Local Power Over Casinos8 November 2004SCOTLAND, United Kingdom – As reported by the UK Evening Times: "The Scottish Parliament should have the power to stop super casinos planned for Glasgow, the SNP claimed today. "The controversial Gambling Bill passed at Westminster last week will relax gambling laws, allowing casinos to operate round the clock and paving the way for more to open. "…Today SNP justice spokesman Kenny MacAskill called for powers over gambling and casinos to be totally devolved to the Scottish Parliament. "He says MSPs at Holyrood must be able to guard against the dangers many people associate with the Westminster plans to deregulate the gambling industry.
