California tribes fund treatment program24 August 2007CALIFORNIA -- As reported by the North County Times: "The region may soon have its first tribal-funded problem gambling treatment program, according to county documents. "...Money for the program will come from the Santa Ysabel Band of Mission Indians as part of an agreement with the county prior to the tribe opening a casino on its reservation near Lake Henshaw earlier this year. "The tribe agreed to pay at least $300,000 each year to help treat problem gamblers. The Pala Band of Mission Indians, which owns a casino east of Fallbrook, agreed to pay an additional $150,000 a year for treatment programs..." |
