California Tribe Promotes Casino Proposal

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the Red Bluff Daily News: "The Greenville Rancheria is touting the benefits of a second casino in Tehama County just before the board of supervisors are set to make a recommendation concerning the tribe's bid to have 334 acres placed into trust. If the Flores Avenue land is accepted into trust, the Greenville Rancheria plans to develop a 120,000-square-foot casino there.

"In a press release sent to the Daily News on Monday, the tribe promotes the economic benefits of their proposed casino. They say it would create thousands of new jobs in the Red Bluff area, contribute more than $665,000 to the county in lieu of taxes, and improve the roads in the immediate vicinity of the casino.

"..Other benefits the tribe lists include: $1,000 per slot machine over 700 machines if the tribe expanded the facility, a commitment to abide by county building and design codes, the creation of a gambling addiction program if one is not required by the tribal/state compact, a creation of a tribal/county advisory committee and a dispute resolution mechanism to allow the county to enforce the agreement with the tribe…"
